This multi-volume book focuses on practically all the works of Professor Sergi Makalatia (1893-1974), a recognized researcher of Georgian history and ethnography, expert of local lore, archaeologist, numismatist and founder of several museums. These works will help modern readers to understand and get to know his great achievements. It should be taken into account that most of the works were published only once during the scientist’s life.
The book is one of the first historical-ethnographical essays published as a separate book in 1930. It is dedicated to the "Mountain Racha" and has become a bibliographic rarity immediately after its publication. This work is based on the material obtained as a result of the organized expedition of the scientist in 1926 and 1928 in three villages located at the headwaters of Rioni and Chanchakhi - Ghebi, Chiora and Glola. Young researcher realized in time what his mission was - to save and preserve the ethnographic knowledge achieved in Racha before the 20s for posterity. It should be noted that the "Mountain Racha" is a folk term and was established in the scientific literature after the publication of the work of Sergi Makalatia.
